The castle was built in 64 days in 1775 following a bet! Worthy of a fairy tale, the park sports a succession of gardens, dotted with footbridges, rock features, caves, ponds and waterfalls, including the splendid Water Lily Pond, but also a 19C Chinese pagoda and a bamboo forest. Come spring, the lawns are a riot of colour. The magnificent rose garden boasts 1,200 varieties.
