This street has lost its importance of yesteryear, yet its attractively restored houses have managed to preserve their character despite the encroaching swathe of modernity. An example of this is the Louis XV-style porch (opposite n° 35), which seems to support a modern structure. The small houses in the tiny Square des Grès and rue Vitruve are lined by some interesting examples of late-19C architecture.
