Built in the 14C with unusual speed for a building of such large proportions, this marvellous basilica was the result of a popular initiative and soon became the spiritual centre of this district of the city. Its three façades are highly representative of Catalan Gothic architecture, featuring solid buttresses and extensive unadorned surfaces. The interior demonstrates two key features of Catalan Gothic: a simplicity of shape and a sense of space.
