The Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula is a magnificent nature reserve, with forests, salt meadows, wetlands and vast bodies of water. It is a narrow strip of land separated from the mainland by the Bodden (shallow lagoons). Fischland, with its slightly jagged coastline, has a particularly popular seaside resort. Darß and Zingst are part of Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park. The villages and spa towns are the region's big attraction.
