Of considerable size, the market square is dominated by the white silhouette of the town hall. The houses round about date from different periods, each one recounting a chapter in the history of architecture. Note the eye-catching red-brick building known as the «Old Swede» and the house of Fritz Reuter, the writer. The waterworks, built in the Dutch Renaissance style, also attracts the eye.
