Set on a bluff near the Santa Clara River, this well-preserved Monterey Colonial-style hacienda (1847), which once belonged to wealthy cattle rancher Raymundo Olivas, is surrounded by a walled courtyard and furnished with period pieces. The land formed part of Rancho San Miguel, a 4,692-acre grant awarded Olivas and his partner in 1841. Olivas, his wife, and their 21 children lived in the house for 50yrs before the family sold the ranch in 1899. The site was donated to the city of Ventura in 1963.A small visitor center contains artifacts and historical photographs from the rancho era, and herbs and roses flourish in the property's lush gardens.
