Built in 1861 for a wealthy merchant, Sarafkina House bears witness to the ability of builders to adapt to the irregularity of the terrain. There is only one storey on the street side, yet there are four on the river side. It is home to an ethnographic exhibition devoted to Folk Art in the Veliko Tarnovo region: wood-carving, pottery, furniture, jewellery (silver belt buckles), costumes, fabric and embroidery. The upper floor is devoted to the early days of photography in Tarnovo.
