To reach the important religious site of Perfume Mountain you must head 5km up the river on a small rowing boat. This steep mountain became the most famous pilgrimage site in the delta in the 17C. Over the years, the slopes and banks of the Yen river have seen the construction of temples, pagodas and chapels which are stopping points for pilgrims on the path to the Perfume Pagoda, dedicated to Quan Am and housed in a spectacular grotto with limestone fossilisations.
