This square, one of the most popular in Toulouse, was where executions were long carried out. Among those who met their death here was Protestant merchant Jean Calas, a native of Toulouse, accused of killing his son for wanting to convert to Catholicism. The square now offers visitors pleasant cafés and restaurants.
