Formerly used to transport wooden logs by timber rafting, the Sho River now ferries tourists. A boat goes from Komaki hydroelectric dam to Omaki Onsen (ryokan with thermal spring) where you can spend the night. The river trip is rich in unspoiled landscapes. The emerald green river twists and turns past high cliffs swamped in lush vegetation; it is even more stunning in autumn and in winter, when it is snow-bound.
