There is much to enjoy in Harajuku, an area that showcases Tokyo at its most eccentric: young would-be fashionistas on Takeshita-dori; tourists and sociologists drawn in from all over the world to experience the cultural and social scene; irresistible sweet treats; and Yogogi Park, once of the city's main green spaces. And, since the profane rarely exists without the sacred, you will also find Meiji-jingu here, one of Tokyo's most venerated Shinto shrines.
