This is a strange construction built on the 13C fortifications. Here the American poet, Ezra Pound, worked on his Cantos, after 1958, once he had been cleared of the accusation of collaboration with the Nazis. The site is now occupied by a museum dedicated to agricultural trades, with a small farm in the gardens.
