From an altitude of 1 450m, close to the parador (hotel) standing at the pass, the view plunges down to the village of Tejeda at the bottom of a caldera. From the Cruz de Tejeda you can take in a chaotic landscape that owes its distinctive appearance to volcanic necks (spikes of solidified lava worn down by erosion). The most impressive are Roque Bentaiga and Roque Nublo, which is said to have been venerated by the indigenous people of the Canary Islands.
