The Dentelles de Montmirail, a range of lacelike peaks which form the foothills to Mont Ventoux, extend over around 10km between Vaison-la-Romain and Beaumes-de-Venise. The slopes of these mountains are dotted with picturesque villages bearing evocative names (Beaumes-de-Venise, Vacqueyras, Gigondas and Séguret), as well as peaceful hamlets boasting stunning views. The indented mountain ridges are popular with rock-climbers, while the magnificent landscapes are also much enjoyed by hikers, cyclists and horse-riders.
