A former royal hunting ground, Djurgården is nowadays part of Ekoparken, Stockholm's urban national park. For centuries a place of recreation, this island is occupied by well-kept gardens, restaurants, museums, including the spectacular Vasa museum and the renowned Skansen open-air museum, plus the Gröna Lund amusement park. The rest of the island is a vast park popular with those who enjoy outdoor activities.
