Isturitz and Oxocelhaya Caves
O Guide Vert
Opinião do Guia Michelin
The superimposed caves correspond to two levels, both abandoned, of the underground flow of the Arberoue River. Veritable halls of limestone with monumental columns, they were appreciated by the Neanderthals and then the Cro-Magnons, who left some real treasures here. Everyday objects and works of art have been unearthed, the chambers are decorated with strangely shaped concretions and reproductions illustrate the drawings discovered on the walls: one of the richest prehistoric sites in Europe.
