Between July and December, you can't fail to notice the sweet smell emanating from the Sucrerie du Gol. Along with the Sucrerie de Bois-Rouge in St-André, this is the last working sugar refinery, a modernised vestige from the golden age of sugar, when the island was home to around 200 factories. Here, you'll experience an assault on all the senses: heat, noise, vibrations, and a mix of pleasant scents and less desirable odours! The tour also highlights the transformation process from sugar cane to granulated sugar and includes several tasting stops.
