At then end of the promontory is a monument in memory of those who "Escaped from France, preferring to die standing tall rather than live on their knees". It is reached via a path along the cliff, which connects the Chemin de St-Cast to the beach, Plage de la Mare. Superb views from the viewpoint indicator.
