Srebarna Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, consists of a freshwater lake (600ha), linked to the Danube. It provides shelter to over 100 species of birds and a host of migratory birds. Birdwatching enthusiasts who wish to visit the reserve must apply to the Natural History Museum in the village. Its displays include stuffed egrets, herons, boar, stags and Dalmatian pelicans, the star of the site. In addition, there are explanations about the history of the reserve and its ecosystem.
