Designed by Miguel Utrillo in the early 20C for American millionaire Charles Deering, the building stands on the former site of a medieval hospital, and has housed the Museu de Maricel since 1970. The museum offers a highly interesting overview of art spanning the period from the Middle Ages to the first half of the 20C; of particular note are the fine paintings illustrating the Luminist, Modernista and Noucentista movements. You will also be able to see the former hospital's Gothic chapel and murals painted by Josep Maria Sert.
