Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, an official State Historic Landmark, is emblematic of California's leisure culture. Although fans of more modern amusement parks may find its appeal somewhat old-fashioned, its rides have retained the kitsch appeal of an early 20C seaside amusement park, with its colourful merry-go-rounds, wooden roller coasters and the legendary Looff Carousel.
