This large white building was constructed in 2004 by the Munich architectural practice Friedrich Hoff Zwink. Nicknamed, not without irony, the "shoebox" by the locals, it regularly plays host to high-profile international contemporary art exhibitions; it has a collection of 55 000 works, including paintings, sculptures and drawings.
