This rocky headland jutting into the Atlantic Ocean, which it is possible to skirt on the coastal path (1hr45mins), is a listed nature reserve. Carpeted in coarse heath grass and dotted with remnants of the Atlantic Wall, it extends into the ocean by way of schist reefs over which the waves break. On 14 June 1931, the St Philibert steam ship out of Nantes sunk off the coast, resulting in the death of 500 passengers. Today the old semaphore has become a museum and the lighthouse is automated.
