Portland Art Museum
O Guide Vert
Opinião do Guia Michelin
A low brick building with travertine trim, the Portland Art Museum was the first building by architect Pietro Belluschi to achieve national recognition. The complex comprises three wings: the Ayer Wing (1932), on the north; the Hirsch Wing (1939), with a sculpture court; and the Hoffman Wing, completed in 1970. In the past, only a small fraction of the museum's holdings-some 32,000 objects spanning 35 centuries-could be exhibited. A $30 million expansion program, scheduled for completion in the summer of 2000, will substantially increase exhibition space for traveling shows and provide permanent galleries for the museum's outstanding collections of Pacific Northwest Native American art and Northwest art. The museum was founded in 1892.
