Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) arrived in Pontoise in 1866. The results of his stay here can be seen in this museum which, in addition to Pissarro's paintings, displays temporary exhibitions of works by his Impressionist and post-Impressionist friends. The museum occupies a renovated aristocratic property on the site of the former castle, destroyed in 1742 and which overlooked the town.
