Old Pointe-à-Pitre is best seen on foot; of modest size, it lies between Boulevard Chanzy to the north and the sea to the south. Fabric shoppers should head to busy Rue Frébault, while there are foodstuffs aplenty at colourful St-Antoine market. In terms of heritage, note the colonial houses on Rue Nozières and Rue Peynet and the basilica of Sts Peter and Paul. The district is at its busiest and most atmospheric in the morning; vast tree-lined Place de la Victoire is an ideal place to sit and rest.
