This valley through the Carpathians links Ploiesti (Romania's "Dallas") to Brasov. After detouring via Slanic to see Europe's largest salt mine, stop at Valenii de Munte; museum dedicated to Nicolae Iorga, the famous Romanian politician (1871-1940). Beyond Maneciu, the road cuts through more mountainous terrain and leads to Suzana monastery (1740). After Chiea at the foot of Mount Ciucas, the road heads over the mountain to Bratocea hill... then starts to drop towards Brasov and Transylvania.
