Place du Coderc was originally used as a pig pen before becoming the administrative centre of Puy-St-Front. At the start of the 19C, the consulate, which was the centre of municipal life and seat of the tribunal, still had its 600-year-old square belfry, which was replaced by the covered market around 1830. A bustling fruit and vegetable market is held on the square in the mornings.
