This unique intellectual creation and knowledge sharing centre is the ambitious brainchild of Xabi Agote who wanted to create an exact replica of the 16C San Juandu whaling vessel that floundered off the coast of Newfoundland in 1565 and was found in 1978. The project, sponsored by Canadian Robert Grenier, upholds the ancestral ship-building techniques of the Basque country. Today you will see more than thirty vessels and witness demonstrations of local crafts.
