The Musée Gustave Courbet is set in the elegant Hôtel Herbert, the mansion where the painter was born, and two adjacent buildings, also from the 18C. It presents the course of Courbet's life, with a particular focus on his young and formative years and on the landscapes that continued to inspire the artist for a long time after he left for Paris in 1840.
