The lungomare unfurls as far as the little Mergellina Cove. Set apart from the bustling centre, it is very popular with Neapolitans out for a Sunday stroll. The plane and pine trees of the Villa Comunale provide some welcome shade from the sun. In the evening, and late into the night, the city's young people and night owls gather in Piazza Sannazzaro.
