By foot or funicular, the ascent to the Vomero plateau promises some of the most fabulous views of Naples and the bay. Areas of greenery and wide, tree-lined streets are a reflection of the affluence of the neighbourhood and its inhabitants. Piazza Vanvitelli is the hub from which the main avenues radiate. At higher elevation than the Spanish working-class areas, this is a haven of calm.
