The BMW Museum showcases the rich collections of this company (established in 1916) that specialised in the manufacture of first aircraft engines, then motorcycles (1923) and finally cars (1928). Sited next to this silver bowl-shaped edifice and the four-cylindered BMW tower, a third futuristic building with a "floating" roof, designed by architects Coop Himmelblau, is home to "BMW Welt", a multi-purpose exhibition and promotional events centre complete with free-access driving simulators, cars and motor bikes.
