This is the beating heart of Munich. In the centre of the square, admire the Marian column and the Glockenspiel clock (1568) in the clock tower of the new Gothic Revival town hall. An attraction in its own right, its beautiful automata include jousting knights at the wedding of Duke Wilhelm V and dancing coopers. The top of the town hall tower offers a fine view over Munich.
