You can't help but be charmed by the harmony and delicacy of the walls and towers of Novodevichy Monastery set amidst leafy gardens. And yet these walls are more ramparts, making the monastery a true fortress. The impression of lightness is created by the latticed crowns in white stone topping each of the twelve towers, whose fine lacework opens up to the sky. Admire the ornamentation and harmonious proportions of the bell-tower (1690).
