La Cayenne harbour stretches out for some 4km. A straight road between the claires (shallow oyster pools) and the channel is lined with brightly coloured boats and huts. Oyster farmers sell their famous Marennes-Oleron oysters, which can also be tasted on site, and organise guided tours. Oyster City is devoted to the world of this shellfish. The sunsets at La Cayenne harbour are quite stunning, with the Seudre estuary viaduct in the background.
