This quiet pedestrian square is presided over by a statue of Álvaro de Bazán, hero of the 1571 Battle of Lepanto. There are several interesting buildings around it: the Baroque and Classical Casa de la Villa (former town hall), the Casa de los Lujanes, which has retained Mudejar architectural features and where the King of France, François I, was imprisoned after the Battle of Pavia, and the Casa de Cisneros, an elegant palace from 1537.
