Descrição
Immediately noticeable with its neo-Classical style and tall, Greek-temple columns, the Spanish Parliament building, built in 1850 under the reign of Isabel II, is of little interest to tourists. The two huge lions that guard the steps were made of cannons taken from the Moroccans. The Palacio de las Cortes was the scene of an attempted coup d'état on 23 February 1981.
