Descrição
This convent founded by the daughter of Charles V is now home to a remarkable museum of religious art. The main staircase extends a stunning greeting to the visitor. In the former dormitory are ten extraordinary 17C tapestries based on cartoons by Rubens. The upper gallery of the cloister opens onto 33 chapels, each of which is more lavish than the last. Also on show is work by Zurbarán and Bruegel the Elder, among others.
