Gran Vía comes to an end on this vast esplanade planted with trees, which forms the junction with the student area of Argüelles. In the middle, the monument to Cervantes and his heroes is somewhat dwarfed by the huge 1950s buildings lining the square, notably the Torre de Madrid (Madrid Tower) and Edificio España (Spain Building).
