Madrid's former hospice is marked by a superb entrance in Churrigueresque style, the work of Pedro de Ribera, and is dedicated to the capital's history. The museum's collections (prints, drawings, porcelain from Buen Retiro royal factory, fans etc) chart the development of the little medieval city of the Castile kingdom (1561) into the Spanish capital of the early 20C. Don't miss the model showing Madrid in 1830.
