Opened in 1982, the Barbican Arts and Conference centre is a major player on London's cultural scene. It has a concert hall and a theatre (this is home to the London Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Shakespeare Company), an art gallery, a library, conference rooms, cinemas and restaurants, and a pleasant waterside terrace.
