This street is home to many university colleges. The university halls (Universiteitshalle), a former cloth hall, have housed the university since 1432. Nowadays, the building, which was built from a Gothic floor in the 17C then rebuilt after being destroyed in 1914, is occupied by university offices. The church, Michielskerk, dates from the 17C, while the magnificent Van Dalecollege houses the university's social services.
