Right at the entrance, a plaque sets the tone, referring to the place's links to the slave trade. It is in this spirit that the museum, founded in 1982, presents its large collection. Take in the superb allegories of the four parts of the world and the panoramic wallpapers (early 19C) depicting the Incas. Don't miss the moving slavery-related exhibits, the woodcuts of the Caribbean and reconstruction of the cabinet of a local 18C shipowner.
