The construction of the monumental St Elisabeth Cathedral, located on Košice's main square, began in 1380 but was never completed. The five-nave Gothic sanctuary survived fires and even an earthquake in the 19C. Inside the building, admire the Altar of St Elisabeth and the 48 Gothic paintings, before taking in the crypt. On the north side of the church is an elegant 14C bell tower, called St Urban's Tower.
