This magnificent garden nestling at the foot of the mountains has a tale to tell. In 1883 the painter Claude Monet was inspired by Japanese prints, on which he was particularly keen, to create his garden at Giverny. 114 years later, the Claude Monet Foundation granted the town of Kitagawa the right to reproduce his garden. After making a few adaptations to deal with the climate, the garden was opened in 2000. Changing constantly with the passing of the seasons, its centrepiece is the water garden and its blue nenuphars (July-October),
