Upon seeing the architecture of the building, you could almost believe yourself to be in China, in front of a Buddhist pagoda. Built out of wood for the Dungan community (Muslims of Chinese origin), the mosque has the distinction of having been assembled without use of a single nail, screw or form of adhesive. A feat that has gone the distance, since its construction dates back to the early 20C. A unique opportunity to examine the astonishing marriage of genres in the decoration, with imperial dragons sitting alongside the crescent of Islam.
