The splendid road between Pacung and Jatiluwih winds through forest. Despite the invasive bamboos, it is possible to find a way through. At Apuan, turn right by the market. You will find yourself surrounded by picturesque paddy fields, smothered in mist that swathes the mountains or in dazzling sunshine if the clouds part. The most beautiful terraced rice paddies are around the villages of Gunungsari and Jatiluwih. On a clear day, the view can stretch as far as the south of the island.
