The path to the lake's edge, from where you can enjoy a view of the limestone Hoher Dachstein range (2,995m) and its small glaciers, starts from the carpark at the end of the authorised road. Don't miss a tour of the lake on foot, which is a nice and easy walk (around 1hr) and offers no end of magnificent views of the jagged peaks of Gosaukamm. Enchanting reflections of the mountains and the forest in the waters of the lake. The hike to the magnificent Upper Lake is only for hardened walkers.
