Occupying a château built in 1506, this museum highlights the history of Franeker through fine collections of silverware, porcelain, glassware and 18C paintings. Visitors can also admire mementoes relating to Anna Maria van Schurman (1606-1678), an entomologist, draughtswoman and the country's first female university student, as well as a superb xylotheque (collection of wood specimens).
